I don't want to work for anyone who wants to create hate speech or work for any companies that support that, whether they are commissioning me to make that or not. I also wouldn't want to work with any companies that aren't being ecofriendly. Id be fine working for anyone of any religion, race, sexuality or gender as long as they don't want me to say mean things. I currently wont draw animals (I need more practice) and I wont draw mechs.

Laura Mulvey: visual pleasure and narrative cinema:
- a lot of men's views of female characters in cinema can be traced back to Freud.
- Language ties us to patriarchy  in a way we cant separate yet. Similarly, alternatives to Hollywood blockbusters can only be made because they have something to respond to.
- Bringing up how women are viewed kills some of the sexualization. Assuming men don't fully notice it until its pointed out.

Gutter between comic panels allows our brain to connect images. Our brain fills in images therefore we are more engaged with the comic and story.
1) moment to moment- doesnt need much thought
2) action to action- 
3) subject to subject- stays within a scene or idea, reader needs to think to interpret it
4) scene to scene- deductive reasoning needed, significant distances of space and time
5) aspect to aspect- no time, parts of the same space or mood
6) non sequitur- no relation between panels.

WI ad, issue 114 march 2021:
The ad is targeted towards middle aged or old woman. Clearly shown by the model, the large, easy to read font and the easy to read information down the side. 
The lady looks friendly and casual, mug in one hand with the other in her pocket. Gives off a nice vibe, wont be scaring the grandkids when they come to visit.
Everything is blue, another calm colour. *according to google* Blue is a colour that inspires trust and stability, its also very calming. Definitely something an old woman would appreciate. The blue is more than likely aiming for the calm, trusting angle rather than the masculine angle.
Orange price circles *according to google* orange can create a feeling of caution but can also be fun and cheerful. Its opposite to the blue, making the price stand out. It apparently also inspires impulse buyers, added to by the savings indicated in the circles.

conotation - Freud and his cigars  
realistically painted, easy to figure out what it is. the blank background brings attention to the fact it isnt real. 
 bogstandard pipe, would probably be smoked by a dude on his work break or an old man. dont assume it would be a woman (une is feminine)
need both the image and words for it to make sense

Anchorage:
Using words with an image to reinforce the meaning of the image. Helps stop misconceptions. Used in magazines and newspaper captions eg; that riot photo with a negative caption that was actually the dude asking for help. 
Denotation and connotation:
What the word literally means. What words can imply or make you think of.
Intertextuality:
Texts can be influenced by each other. Technically all fanfiction is an example of this.

structuralist- nurture. essentialism-nature. semiotics-schemas
lang construcs our view of the world, same word means diff things all over the world.
feminists in the 70s/80s, language is very male centered
exchange of minds, mutual understanding to co-operate

​1- big daddy is flashy and popular, sparkly outfit, bigger movements to get more out of the crowd, more cheering
giant haystacks isnt popular, less over the top movements, gets booed, dressed in browns.
2- commentator reads stats and says nonsense about their actions
3- ref checks if theyre hugging correctly and gets in the way, riles up both the audience and fighters
4- crowd cheers when big daddy gets hits and boos and sounds worried when haystacks is on top
5- its closer to theatre than sport.
