Shared common destiny cultural exchange and hybridity- those metal biker dudes in Africa, punk in Myanmar cultural imperialism, one culture dominates (America) post traditional community- trad comm, being rooted(all used to work in factories??), historical ties(im not from horwich) , fixed spatial env(like 9 pubs on one street), shared rituals(yearly morris dancing, carnival), moral certainty(fuck our local government, mum is the only hierarchy I respect) Brands/corporations: corp- immortal(power and wealth), ephemeral, agressive, chameleon like(disneys a girlboss now) brand is the image/lifestyle of corp. Personal Manifesto:
I don't want to work for anyone who wants to create hate speech or work for any companies that support that, whether they are commissioning me to make that or not. I also wouldn't want to work with any companies that aren't being ecofriendly. Id be fine working for anyone of any religion, race, sexuality or gender as long as they don't want me to say mean things. I currently wont draw animals (I need more practice) and I wont draw mechs.

]gender- culturally defined, roles change over time, represented in media venus and mars, back in the 16th century it was the norm for women to be unfulfilled in sex patriarchy- good girl typeface. theres always more men at the top of fields and it sucks essentialism/structuralism- dolls vs trucks. gender performance- we learn how were supposed to act political, economic, scientific and social elements male gaze- please stop looking at our tits. is there a female gaze now that more women make films (no its more of a male fantasy than designed to appeal to women)my opinion letraset - type catalogue 1984 traced images from 60's magazines erving goffman gender advertisements- analysed ads from the 60's and 70's - ritual subordination of women - power dynamic, home/work each are out of their depth in the other - way the body is displayed. active forceful/ passive yeilding tiger who came to tea, stay at home mum who cooks for dad and looks after the kid. very gender norm of them but its not a bad thing. dad saves the day by going to a cafe, mum saves a future day by buying tiger food Laura Mulvey: visual pleasure and narrative cinema:
- a lot of men's views of female characters in cinema can be traced back to Freud. - Language ties us to patriarchy in a way we cant separate yet. Similarly, alternatives to Hollywood blockbusters can only be made because they have something to respond to. - Bringing up how women are viewed kills some of the sexualization. Assuming men don't fully notice it until its pointed out. - Scopophilia, pleasure from looking at something. Those communities have been replaced by large, diverse and complex societies. The societies are composed of multiple smaller groups sharing beliefs, customs and interests that are different from the rest of society. Although such groups are connected with the mainstream by many cultural aspects, they show their own cultural diversity. The groups display boundaries that isolate them from the rest of society. Those groups that share a characteristic set of norms, values and behavior are referred to by sociologists as subcultures."
Cottagecore is a subculture about wanting to live a simple country life. Its ecofriendly as well as regular friendly, people just wanna chill in a field. Most people in this subculture only dress the part, or compensate by keeping a herb garden in their bedroom, because most people cant live in a little cottage in the woods. Its mostly escapism. |
